Department of Transportation Prepares For Self Driving Cars

1. vehicles today are being revolutionized with brand spanking new automated features such as braking, parking, avoiding crashes, etc. The federal government is clearing the way for automatic vehicles. Transportation secretary just approved BMW's request to activate the technology in 2016. The technology will allow the vehicles to park without a driver inside. After reviewing existing regulations they have determined it to be legal. Foxx has been trying to reinterpret existing regulations in order to allow up and coming technology to be implemented. When the department is unable to reinterpret laws to allow inovation he encourages asking for exemptions. Foxx is a personal advocate of automated vehicles. The federal government plans to further work with the auto industry to implement and fortify technological advancements.

2, I think this is pretty cool. I really hope that automated cars become main stream in the near future. The potential for lowering danger and costs of things like insurance. I'm glad that the head of the Department of Transportation is doing the most possible to help advancements in technology. After all it's not exactly rare for a government department to fund older technology and shut down new technology.

3. This relates tou our current unit because it's about the federal government.
